Horses in domestication don't wear their feet like horses in the wild.  Because of this horses need regular maintence by a professional hoof care provider. All of the horses in my care are on 4-6 week trim schedules.

Just proper trimming won't give you the foot that you need to go out and crush gravel. It takes time to conditioning for a hoof to work at the top of its game. Hoof boots allow the hoof to fuction as if it were bare.
